It is a view of the child as naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the child’s development—physical, social, emotional, cognitive.
Dr. Montessori discovered that children learn from each other across a spectrum of ages and skills, and it is this kind of learning fosters teamwork and empathy. The Montessori approach is about a child’s emotional, social development as it is his academic skills. Using this approach, our students learn to think critically, work collaboratively, and make good choices.

Bookie’s New and Used Books
Bookie’s has long been a neighborhood independent bookstore on the South Side of Chicago. We’ve been helping our community to find their reading material for almost 30 years. On July 1, 2017, Bookie’s moved to a brand new double storefront on Western Ave. On September 21st, 2018, Bookie’s also added a second location in south suburban Homewood! Bookie’s sells new and used books to all ages, from the newest bestsellers to the obscure, hard-to-find treasures that only a true bibliophile would appreciate.
Mirjam Quinn and Associates
At Mirjam Quinn and Associates, our mission is to help individuals, couples, and families live authentic, connected, and happy lives. We recognize that finding a therapist who understands your needs, works with you to identify your goals, and “just gets you” is important, but can be an intimidating process. At MQA, we work as a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, meeting on a weekly basis to discuss treatment approaches, learn from one another, and provide teaching and mentorship to the next generation.
Clinical Psychologists: A clinical psychologist holds a doctoral degree (either a PhD or PsyD) in psychology. They have completed 5-7 years of postgraduate work focusing on research, classwork, and hands-on clinical training. They will also have completed a postdoctoral fellowship, during which they complete additional clinically supervised work before passing a state licensing exam. The education of clinical psychologists focuses on diagnosing and treating behavioral and emotional concerns such as autism, relationship concerns, anxiety disorders, depression, AD/HD, behavioral disorders, PTSD, substance use, and eating disorders.
Morgan Park Presbyterian Church
Committed to Christ, Diversity and Mission: Morgan Park Presbyterian Church is a diverse multi-generational church family in the Presbyterian Church (USA) providing a loving community and prophetic voice for the Beverly Morgan Park area. All are welcome in this place!
We gather for weekly Sunday worship at 10:30am and have a Sunday School class for adults and children at 9:30am before worship. We seek to grow through bible study, contextual sermons, and opportunities for mission.

For more than 80 years, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) has focused on improving the health of our communities. To build on that legacy, we opened our first-ever neighborhood center in Chicago’s historic Pullman neighborhood.
The Blue Door Neighborhood CenterSM is a space to learn, connect and focus on your health. We want to empower you to make a difference in your health. In particular, we aim to help you improve your health in the following areas:

The center is not a clinic. We don’t provide health services. But, we are a place where you can attend classes, workshops and get access to community resources.

The mission of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is to enrich Chicago’s artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy. To support this overarching mission, the Cultural Grants Program’s goal is simple: to serve as a catalyst to foster a robust, healthy arts community where artists, nonprofit arts and culture organizations and creative industries thrive. Designed to reach artists, creatives, and nonprofit arts and culture organizations across Chicago, DCASE Cultural Grants provide operating funds and project support for nonprofits and project specific funding for individual artists.

Great Lakes Clinical Trials
Great Lakes Clinical Trials is an independent clinical research center located in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. Founded in 2014 by Steve Satek, the goal of opening Great Lakes Clinical Trials was to make clinical study opportunities more convenient and comfortable for patients.
Since opening, their trials have helped get new medications, treatments, and therapies FDA approved which enables future generations to live happier, healthier, and longer lives. Backed by 25 years of clinical research experience, Great Lakes’ team of board-certified doctors, nurses, and clinical researchers have come to specialize in the study of investigational medications, food products, and supplements for the treatment of chronic diseases, notably in metabolic disorders, Alzheimer’s Disease, depression, and COVID-19.
In clinical trials, creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients of all backgrounds regardless of their race, gender identity, religion, ethnicity, physical abilities, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, or criminal history is Great Lakes vision of a healthy, happy, and informed community. Olive-Harvey College, City Colleges of Chicago
Olive-Harvey College, located at 10001 South Woodlawn Avenue in southeast Chicago, serves thousands of students annually in their pursuit of a certificate, degree, GED or learning English as a second language.
Olive-Harvey College is the Center of Excellence in Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL) – one of the region’s fastest growing industry segments. The curriculum’s focus on key modes of transportation such as air, rail and road.
Students can learn:
- The fundamentals of moving raw and/or finished products from points of origin to customers, including: product receiving, storage, order processing, packaging, shipping, inventory control, hazardous materials handling, dispatch, tracking, equipment operations and managerial functions.

The mission of the Black Fire Brigade is to promote and protect the fire service while providing continued education and resources to members along with preserving the history and heritage of the black firefighters.
