Our first festival launched in 2019 as a small gathering in the Dan Ryan Woods but quickly expanded each year. Last year’s festival was a force on the South Side, with more than 5,000 attendees! As the festival grows in popularity, sponsorship, and attendance, this year’s event will be more significant and have more to offer the community. This year’s Juneteenth Family Festival will feature entertainment, activities, and shopping for every age group! Read below for a list of event highlights.
Get ready for an unforgettable performance from the Shea Butta Band! Known for their powerful vocals, dynamic musicianship, and crowd-pleasing energy, this talented Chicago group doesn’t just play music—they create an experience. Whether delivering soulful classics, R&B favorites, or dance-floor hits, Shea Butta Band knows how to get the crowd moving and keep the good vibes flowing all night long. Their motto says it best: “We melt the stage wherever we go!”
MOYA educates through electrifying drum and dance! We guarantee to integrate state learning goals while bringing Africa to you through creative songs, dance, storytelling, and audience participation. MOYA is a West African term from the Mandingo Ancestry, meaning “Family.” MOYA’s mission is to cultivate minds and uplift youth through Afri-tainment, which affirms our dedication to attaining success through knowledge and understanding of the rich African culture using entertainment as our catalyst.
IDC is a South Side Chicago youth dance organization dedicated to inspiring confidence, discipline, creativity, and leadership through the art of dance. Founded and directed by Lakidia S. (middle) and assisted by Stephanie Tarr (top right), IDC provides training in ballet, liturgical, pom, majorette, hip-hop, and creative movement while creating opportunities for young dancers to grow both on and off the stage. Through performances, community engagement, and artistic expression, IDC empowers youth to develop strong character, teamwork, and self-confidence while celebrating culture, creativity, and excellence through dance.

The South Shore Drill Team has been a symbol of excellence, discipline, teamwork, and youth achievement for 46 years. Known for their high-energy performances, dynamic choreography, and outstanding musical presentation, this award-winning organization continues to impact young people through leadership, mentorship, and the performing arts.
The South Shore Drill Team has proudly performed on some of the nation’s biggest stages, including President Barack Obama’s 2nd Inaugural Parade and President Joe Biden’s Virtual Inaugural Parade. They have also been featured on Good Morning America, performed during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show, New York Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, WNBA, NBA, and NFL halftime show and much more. Since 2006 the team has seen a 100% high school graduation rate. Alumni include attorneys, journalists, first responders, educators, medical professionals, business owners, and most recently an Emmy Award winner.

Vai’s mission is to continue making progress through poetry, using her voice to shed light on critical issues such as sexual assault awareness, body positivity, and mental health. With her powerful words and unwavering dedication, she remains a force for change in both the spoken word community an beyond.
Cee Miner is a professional lead and background vocalist with over a decade of performance experience, delivering polished, high-quality vocals for festivals, corporate events, private functions, and showcases nationwide. Known for her soprano voice and exceptional versatility, she performs seamlessly across gospel, soul, R&B, classical, pop, rock, and country. Her credits include background and recording work with artists such as Kim Burrell, William Murphy, Twinkie Clark, Noah the Genius, Marco the Poet, Jenipher Jones, and Tone Ross, and she is a contributing vocalist with TGX and Queensville, bringing professionalism, adaptability, and strong stage presence to every booking.
Jalen Barnes is a multi-genre producer and DJ, actively pushing footwork, hip-hop and bass music intentionally with his undefeated footwork crew: Takeova Global. He is a young heavy-hitter of Footwork. Be sure to visit their social media pages to learn more.

Where is the festival located?
The festival is located on Longwood Drive in the Beverly/Morgan Park community. The festival spans 110th to 111th and Longwood Dr., Chicago, IL.
When is the festival?
The festival is on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, from 12PM to 7PM.
How much does it cost to attend the festival?
Entrance to the festival is free for all attendees.
What should I expect to see or experience activities at the festival?
There will be live entertainment, workshops, and family activities such as djembe drumming lessons, sports activities, bouncy houses, live art, and much more! Please check the website for activities, workshops, and entertainment times.
How is the festival paid for?
Every year, the festival organizers strive to raise funds through sponsorships and donations. This support allows the festival to be free and accessible to all.
How can I support the festival?
You can support the festival by attending, donating or by connecting festival organizers with businesses or organizations you know that may be interested in sponsorship.
Are there other ways I can help with the festival?
This festival is made possible through the help of volunteers. Everyone within the Juneteenth Family Festival organization works on a volunteer basis. If you would like to help, you are welcomed to be a volunteer. Please visit our volunteer page to sign up.
Day of the Festival
Is there parking available at the festival?
-Street Parking: Attendees may park on non-permit streets surrounding the festival.
–Parking Lot: Attendees may use the Morgan Park High School parking lot at 1744 W. Pryor St (Enter on 111th St). Congregating and tailgating in the lot is strictly prohibited
Where do I enter the festival?
You may enter the festival at any entrance point, as there are no gates or barricades limiting access to the festival.
Is this venue handicap-accessible?
The venue is handicap-accessible as all activities are on the ground level. Additionally, there will be wheel-chair accessible bathrooms on site.
What should I bring to the festival?
We encourage you to bring chairs or blankets so you can sit down and enjoy the festival.
Can I bring a tent?
Due to a large number of attendees, we do not allow tents, canopies or shade structures.
Can I bring outside food and drinks to the festival?
You can bring your own food to sit and eat with your friends or family, however you are not allowed to grill or sell any food on the premises. Only registered food vendors are allowed to sell food. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Can I purchase food at the festival?
Food vendors will be on site from which you can buy food and drinks.
What else can I purchase at the festival? There will be vendors at the festival selling various merchandise.
Will there be security at the festival? There will be security at the festival and the Chicago Police Department to keep us safe.
What items are prohibited at the festival?
Alcohol, illegal and illicit substances, fireworks, barbecue grills, pets or animals (except service animals), drones or air-crafts.
Can I sell merchandise or set up a business table?
No. Only registered vendors may set up tables to sell merchandise at the festival.
Where do I go if I have any questions at the festival?
You may go to the welcome tent and a festival organizer will answer your questions.
What else do I need to know?
Please remember this is a family-friendly festival. We ask that you respect others and the property of the churches.
