Festival 2024: The Details!

In 2024 we partnered with My Block My Hood My City, an organization founded and directed by Jahmal Cole. We prioritized and enhance youth belonging and empowerment. My Block My Hood My City sponsored the youth and family area and brought their vast expertise working with youth to the forefront. Included in this endeavor was a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, as we collaborated to draw attention to #savestreetball, a campaign by My Block My Hood My City to ensure that communities throughout Chicagoland have updated, outdoor basketball courts for our youth and families to utilize.

Windy Indie- Classically Trained Violinist!

Windy Indie is a classically trained violinist from the West Side of Chicago whose versatility on the violin is rooted in her humble beginnings. Since picking up the violin as her principal instrument in 6th grade at K.I.P.P. Ascend Charter School, she has become passionate about music and encouraging others to believe in themselves.
Since 2004, she has performed in many youth classical orchestras based in Chicago. In high school, she demonstrated talent and leadership skills by being an active section leader of the 2nd violins during her last two years at Lane Technical College Prep High School. While simultaneously participating in the “All-City CPS High School Orchestra” for three years, earning the chance to perform at The Chicago Orchestra Hall, Navy Pier, and a plethora of private venues. As a past mentee to the late Robert Fisher, she was a part of a youth classical quartet (S.E.E.D.) for two years governed by him (a member of Chicago’s Sinfonietta Orchestra).
Now focusing on the fusion genre of Classical and Hip-Hop, Windy has been continuing her education in Chicago’s City College Music Education programs. With sounds reminiscent of Jazz musicians and Chicago’s Artistic flavor, she developed an aspiration to bridge the gap between music and education as a tool to empower all demographics into believing in themselves.
Windy indie utilize her expansive musicality for blending genres such as hip hop, soul, and classical music to demonstrate her discipline in the community. With the core beliefs of Jesus Christ and ideas of philanthropy grounding her, Windy continues to share her violin skills in spaces of learners and individuals in hopes of forming loving bonds within the communities Windy impacts.
Raised amongst a family of educators, Windy has naturally become a Violin Instructor and has taught in several schools and youth programs across Chicago. This union of hard work and optimism has led Windy to many achievements, such as appearing thrice on Fox TV’s hit show Empire while performing in spaces such as Chicago’s Blues Festival, the House of Blues, and a plethora of private venues and shows. With dreams of opening a music school and ideals helmed in philanthropy, Windy Indie strives to connect with people on a universal scale in unity.
Beyond her artistic contributions, Windy’s journey is a testament to resilience and self-determination. Raised in the Austin community by a single parent amidst educators, her upbringing instilled in her the virtues of perseverance and the
transformative power of education. This foundation has empowered her to transcend the confines of music genres, creating a distinctive sound that mirrors her unique narrative—a narrative that includes taking the reins of her career, from staying independent and even producing her own concerts for her supporters to hear her remarkable sound.
Windy Indie inspiring journey encapsulates the challenges of her upbringing, her innovative fusion of classical and hip-hop music, and her pioneering venture into independent show production. Her life is not merely about musical prowess; it is a compelling story of overcoming adversity, pursuing dreams with tenacity, and the profound impact of believing in oneself.
Hi Love – A Soul-Piercing Songstress!

Hi Love, formally known as Kamilah Sumner, is a veteran soul piercing songstress originating from the Southside of Chicago. Her early career works include working with Kanye West, Grammy Award-Winning Producer Needlz. Music exec and Grammy Award-Winning Producer NO I.D.
As a young child soul music was a major influence on how her sound would be shaped. Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield and her favorite Minnie Riperton to name a few. She began to write poetry that later turned poems into songs. This was the beginning of her journey to making heart felt music. Spending her teenage years in an area known as Hyde Park where B Boys would break dance on the corners of streets, she was heavily influenced by the hip hop culture in the early and late 90’s. This was the same time she was introduced to singing classical music. Hip hop added a special edge to her sound and classical training added vocal control and range to her eclectic sound.
Her resume includes the release of “Heart of A Lion”(2009), “Still Good As New” (2012), and “Life and Love” (2012). After a 3-4 year hiatus from music Kamilah reinvented herself as the artist “Hi Love”. Her unique sound sculpted by God locks listeners in a world of hope, peace and truth. Amplifying feelings of pure love, capturing the ear of the broken.

With warm vocals, introspective content and airy production, Hi Love’s EP “After All” (2017) will certainly make your ears flutter. “Chicago Amoré” (2020) has the signature Chicago soul feel that will have heads nodding the entire album. “Cold Wind” influenced by a retro 90’s RnB, hip-hop, and soul vibe, her latest EP inspires listeners to break through obstacles in order to stay on track to a higher purpose.
